An important message to our pet parents

We strive to support our customers in their time of need, so for insured pets, we’ve extended our emergency boarding cover and coverage for all customers directly impacted by extreme weather events (eg bushfire, flood, cyclones) no matter what type of cover you have, up to your policy annual benefit limit. We will cover the costs of emergency boarding for your insured pets, and any conditions your pet may experience directly related to the extreme weather event until 13 June 2024. All other policy terms and conditions will continue to apply. Just submit your invoice/s and policy number to help@petsure.com.au. Stay safe.

Pet Insurance Claims  Pet Insurance Claims

We understand that your pets are a part of the family. So we've simplified our claims process to ensure that you receive your benefit as quickly as possible.

Note: In some instances we may require more information to process your claim such as medical history or pathology/laboratory results. We'll contact you or your vet(s) if required.

Want to know if you are covered prior to treatment?

You can check out MyPet Portal via My Insurance Portal for a summary of your coverage or refer to your PDS and Certificate of Insurance for all your coverage information.

Pre-approvals aren’t mandatory, but can provide you with additional reassurance, so if you want to know if an upcoming or specific treatment for your pet will be covered, all we need is for you to email us at claimreview@petsure.com.au with the following:

  • Policy number or Policy Holder and Pet Name.
  • Name of the condition being treated and the proposed procedure.
  • Name of your regular vet and the vet where the procedure will take place.
  • An itemised estimate of costs relating to the procedure (optional- if you have it).

Once we receive this information, you can expect to hear back from us within two business days.

Note: A pre-approval will not be deemed to be valid unless we have agreed to it in writing. The reimbursed amount may vary from the pre-approval if the treatment provided by your vet differs from the treatment request in the pre-approval.

Make a Pet Insurance claim

There are many ways to claim

Make a claim through your Vet

If your Vet Clinic is a participating GapOnly® Clinic, then your Vet can submit a claim on your behalf, on the spot while you are at the Vet=.

Alternatively, your Vet may be able to submit an electronic pet insurance claim on your behalf (sometimes referred to as an eClaim). We will still communicate with you regarding the status of your claim and you will still need to pay for the Vet expenses upfront. For more information about how claims are handled, please refer to the Claims section of your Product Disclosure Statement.

Make a claim online

You can also claim online through your MyPet Portal via My Insurance Portal

To make a claim, through MyPet Portal, you will need the following documentation:

  • Itemised invoice (a paid invoice that includes individual treatment items and costs adding up to the total amount paid); and
  • Vet consultation notes, if you have them (these are the veterinarian's medical notes from examinations findings).

We may also contact you for additional documentation if needed. Not registered for My Insurance Portal? Register now.

Make a paper claim

If you prefer to submit your claims through the post please follow the 3 steps below:

  1. Fill in Pet Insurance Claim Form with your pet’s personal information and sign.
  2. Take the Claim Form to your vet and ask your vet to complete in full Part 2 and sign the form.
  3. Attach the original detailed itemised invoices, payment receipts and any relevant vet consultation notes to the completed claim form. Please do not staple documents. Ensure your vet includes their practice details on the original invoice.
